The obsession our culture has with fame, fashion, wealth, and rock stars is intriguing to say the least. The changes in our society through the pursuit of these goals inspire me.

I am searching out what it means to attain these dreams. What is risked, lost, destroyed, changed, all in the name of ideals that have no place in the animal kingdom? What forces surround us and affect us like ripples in a pond that we are unaware of?

I find it easier to confront a challenge if I can use a symbol to represent the human condition rather than portraying it in reality.

I think that artwork can be humorous and even downright fun, yet still be viable in the midst of what is considered “art” today. I hope that this body of work is my most successful in adding to the greater visual dialogue of original art. My intent is to continue to seriously create art that looks at itself non-seriously.

Some of my influences are H.C. Westermann, Jasper Johns, Jim Dine, Sandy Skolding, Liza Lu, William Edmondson, David Mach, Charles Ray, Magritte, Duchamp, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Robert Rauschenburg, Banksy, and Ai Weiwei.
